how to thank your customers | | |

Thank you to our clients and other business residents for their wonderful support at our Biggest Morning Tea event held recently in aid of the NSW Cancer Council.

Many businesses donated cakes to assist the scrumptious two hour event at our Parramatta office complex. The event was used as a corporate citizen affair and not to spruik our services and products. As part of our event plan we ensured we obtained the email addresses of attendees and sent them a personal ‘thank you’ for attending and contributing to a great cause, just so they knew that their contribution made a difference.

When was the last time your company thanked its clients and guests for their patronage and not asked for anything in return?

Small notes to clients and supporters every so often showing your gratitude for their customer support is vital for long-term business relationships.

Do you give your customers their bill or invoice after they have purchased goods or services from you and that’s it? You have to build on the positive buying experience of the customer with good courtesy and manners.

I went to buy some new tyres for my family car recently and it was like stepping back in time to the days when I was a boy and courtesy was common place. The tyre people could not have made me feel any more at home and comfortable while my car was being worked on.

Will I go back? Absolutely. The feeling of acceptance and care at the tyre shop was exceptional and they will have my repeat sales. Do you do the same with your customers?

The real test will come in the ensuing months as to whether the tyre people will chase new people to build their client base and forget about me or will they send me courtesy reminders and information about tyre maintenance to maintain our relationship?

It may be the tyre people will send me some discount vouchers or offers regarding wheel alignments or other services. Let’s face it, we all love freebies and discount offers on things we need.

Every so often send your customers a small note, via email, letter or SMS and let them know you appreciate their patronage and ongoing support. The missives will act as mnemonics to jog the customer about your services and products.
