John Barilaro MP’s 2018 Anzac Day brochure was conceptualised, written and designed by the team at Hugo Halliday.
Anzac Day is an important event across Australia, one that many local Members of Parliament choose to produce community news about to help strengthen the Anzac message. The main purposes of this 2018 Anzac Day brochure are to:
- Provide the Monaro electorate with local Anzac Day service information
- Remember local military figures who served their country and educate the community about what they did
- Thank locals involved in the soil collection process for the newly renovated Hyde Park War Memorial (and make people aware of this project)
The title of this brochure is: “Their Legacy Won’t Wash Away”. This title was devised by the Hugo Halliday team to fit in with the main information presented in the brochure about the new Hyde Park War Memorial Project.
“Acclaimed artist Fiona Hall has devised a public art project that will resonate with everyone in NSW. A plaque for every town, suburb and locality around NSW that enlistees for the First World War gave as their place of address is being forged. A sample of soil collected from the area by local residents will sit alongside the place name. Close to 1700 plaques will be displayed on mass around the walls of the Hall of Service.” (more information here)
Playing on the soil collection and general ‘remembrance’ Anzac themes, our team produced a brochure which emphasised:
- Soil: Through the cover theme and use of brown as the primary colour.
- Age: To reflect the WWI era. This was done through font choice, sepia map edits and aged paper backgrounds.
- Remembrance: Poppies, rosemary and other motifs associated with Anzac Day were used. The Ode also appears on the cover.
Background information was provided to our team, who then undertook copywriting and designing the entire brochure.
